The Music Program at St. Jude the Apostle School has been enhanced by two new teaching tools. First, we have been able to install the composing software Finale on the computers in our lab. This software will be used by students to gain a better understanding of notes, rhythms, reading notation, and for our older students, composition. Having this software gives our students another outlet to express their creativity.
The second teaching tool is a Keyboard Lab. This Lab was a generously donated by our Principal, Dr. Cathleen Carney, given in memory of her parents, Julia and Paul Carney. The Lab consists of fifteen keyboards, stands, and headphones. These keyboards will be used in grades 3 through 5 in order to give students a hands-on approach to learning how to read music.
The acquisition of Finale and the Keyboard Lab shows the commitment St. Jude School has to give its students a complete education that includes the Arts.
